RESTORATION

SOME OF MY  RESTORATION WORK EXAMPLES

These are some of  my recent machines that I have restored . I prefer to start with a good solid platform and go from there .  I also want to have the fundamental elements like solid suspension , steering and brakes AC and Heat . sound system and make a ride that is comfortable to cruise in !.

                  1968 GTO

This 68 GTO which I did frame on was a  stripped out shell which is seen in the library and it did not even have wheels.. It was however a  correct 242 GTO VIN with data plate as well and it had   new quarters and the frame and floor were in super condition so I had good bones to start with! I had to source EVERYTHING else including a period correct YS 400 Block  and cyl. heads.  All sheetmetal is Dynacorn  and I only use Chroma paint systems and a 3 stage cut and polish. Interior is 100% leather and I stitched it to retain a stockish style and a blue thread to make the seats stand out. Vintage air and heat , 800 watt sound  system , power 4 wheel disc brakes, upgraded cooling , charging and electrical system s. Yukon 3:23 Posi rear end and WAY more! The car is a Blast to drive and gets a bunch of attention!

                      1986 IROC Z28

I found this car as a project and  It was a factory L98 5.7 TPI Platform with the 700R4. Super good bones and I knew it would be a winner in the right color .which was Bright Blue Metallic for me personally . It sold in a week

As you can see I went through it from top to bottom and with only the best parts, supplies and equipment. The 1986 IROC really should have the goofy 3rd rear brake light at the rear hatch upper  and the door decals should be forward not aft of the door center but I did it the way I liked it !

I met several serious and passionate collectors through this beauty and began building for them. I love Camaros and have had over 25 from Gen 1 to Gen 4.

                   1967 Mustang

I found this sweet 67 Mustang in San antonio back in 2019. A friend had started it and gave up so I brought it home! It was a factory ac car which was a big deal since this was an in dash done right by Ford and a pricey option at almost $500 for a $2500 car that was a 6 cylinder.

As you can see I went through it all and made it a period correct 289 car with
all kinds of goodies including a built c4. The factory Clearwater Aqua I felt was an awesome color.

1979 10th Anniversary Trans Am

This is a 1979 10th Anniversary Trans am that features the real deal 400 Pontiac engine and the super desirable 4 speed along with the cool paint scheme it also had the genuine leather silver upholstery which was pretty trick .

The real deal Pontiac 400 engine was winding down and the factory had a hand full left over which were used in these particular cars in 1979 with a 4 speed  . The replacement 403 Oldsmobile engine was used in the other 10th anniversary cars but those were automatic and certainly nice but not as valuable!

The first pic shows what I started with and of course the finished product !

Complete ground up on a pretty solid platform to start with and I only use

the best quality parts and materials for myself or my clients .

1980 Turbo Trans am Macho series # 6

This is a 1980 Turbo Trans am Macho series # 6 car that is part of the Mekum brothers cars that were done after new and personalized with their touches.

This featured the only smog friendly engine Pontiac had left which was the underrated 301 which would fade out into the gen 3 incarnation which used the 5.0 Chevrolet small block .

Another fact is that even though the stock turbo 301 produced over 200 HP - the corvette at that time was good for about 190 . Pretty amazing for a super short stroke little  engine .

I went through this one ground up and did the engine and Transmission over with performance upgrades to include stage 3 Turbo kit . The client wanted the black and red combo so thats what I built . I must say I did like the disco era gold paint and the turbine wheels are totally  80s .
